1. Does MAXPro support Windows?

Although MAXPro is a DOS program, it does support Windows 95, 98, NT and Windows 2000. All you have to do is open a DOS window. Software Concepts is currently working on a Windows version.

2. Do I still need Config.sys file under Windows operating system?

Yes, under Windows 95 and 98, create a Config.sys file under Root directory. Under NT, create a Config.sys file under C:\Winnt\System32.

3. How do I back up MAXPro?

MAXPro does not have a backup function. To backup MAXPro, you'll need to use your own backup program. All MAXPro files are kept under one sub-directory.

4. The number of files in my MAXPro sub-directory is increasing, Can I safely delete un-needed files?

MAXPro creates few temporary files on disk from time to time, some temporary files are used to speed up operation, others are used as a making file for MAXPro to identify a certain task. These files are sometimes left on the disk due to incomplete process (exp. Program crash, power failure, etc...) and it could cause the system to lockup when you are entering the sales invoice module. These files may be deleted from the DOS prompt and should be done properly to avoid damage to any MAXPro system files.

To safely delete these files, please follow the instructions below:

1. If you're using a multiuser version of MAXPro, be sure all users have logged out the system and are not using MAXPro.
2. From DOS prompt, go to the MAXPro sub-directory.
3. Delete all unused files as following:

DEL FILE??.DBF [ENTER]
DEL *.INV [ENTER]
DEL *.CRT [ENTER]
DEL *. [ENTER]
DEL *.BAK
[ENTER]
DEL REPT0*.TXT
[ENTER]
(REPT and 'zero') DEL PO0*.*
[ENTER] (O=O as in Omega and 0='zero')
DEL CRET??.DBF
[ENTER]
DEL 1*.DAT DEL 2*.DAT
(to..) DEL 9*.DAT

Be sure you type above DOS command correctly!

5. Is MAXPro Y2K compatible?

MAXPro version 8.0 or higher is Y2K certified. Upgrade to version 8.0 from 7.0 is automatic. Upgrade from version 6.9 or earlier requires data conversion. Software Concepts can provide this service at a cost.

6. I can not start my MAXPro, error message indicate the index file has corrupted, what can I do to fix this?

Do a 'clean index' on MAXPro file: Open a DOS Windows, goto your MAXPro sub-directory, delete all files with extension ".CDX". Start MAXPro, run System Maintenance!

7. I have problem with Year Ending Process, what should I do?

Be sure you are using MAXPro version 8.01. And, there's nobody using MAXPro when you process Year Ending. Also be sure you understand the SoftDip Switch 30 (_Dip_30.dat).

8. Can MAXPro recalculate customer Year-to-Date and last year Y-T-D total sales and profits?

Yes! Select System Maintenance, using Spacebar blank out all X and mark only 'Recalc Sales', then press Enter. Select the Year you want MAXPro to recalc the sales!
